Declaration of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova
National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova welcomes the Government’s intention to propose the revision of electricity tariff in order to reduce it.
We note that trade unions have appealed the increases in gas and electricity made in 2015, obtaining a suspension of the application of tariffs for natural gas for a period of 2 months and the tariff reduction for the current year.
Thus, the intention of the Government confirms the position expressed earlier by trade unions, which have questioned the correctness of the increases and warned on the non-admission of decreasing living standards.
In the situation when the average consumer price indices for 2015 was 109.7, while wages increased in real terms by only 0.7%, when the purchasing power of the population degraded, it is essential to undertake measures that would halt the decline level of the living standards of the population.
A first step that would target reducing the burden of expenditure incurred by payment of the population to maintain the dwelling is to reduce electricity tariffs.
We believe that it is right that subsequent to the reduction in electricity tariffs are reduced the prices for other goods and services of first necessity that would influence same positive, the living standards of the population.
We believe that the responsible institution for regulating the electricity tariff in the shortest time will make the appropriate decision so as to provide the population the right to a decent life.
On behalf of the Confederal Committee of CNSM,
President Oleg BUDZA
