About a hundred employees of the SE “Glass Factory from Chisinau”, supported by the president of the trade union organization, Michael Dobos protested on Monday, January 2, in front of the enterprise, being angry that they are forced to take vacations of their own.
Enterprise administrator issued an order “On ceasing activity” in the period from 2 to 20 January 2017 in connection with the decline in labour productivity caused by low temperatures outside, citing other reasons for which employees bear no blame.
Thus, some of the employees who were present at work on the 2nd of January 2017 found themselves behind closed doors, with no entry on the enterprise territory. In this situation, they were forced to assert their right to work, asking the administration to cancel the given order.
According to Victor Talmaci, president of the Federation of Trade Unions in Constructions and Building Materials Industry “SINDICONS” , the factory administration broke the law sending home the employees without pay compensation. Attending the meeting, he explained to employees how to proceed in such situations and has given assurances that if the administration of the enterprise will not revise the decision, which infringes the rights of employees, the Federation will address the court.
It should be noted that the director of the factory did not come on the spot during the protest.
SE “Glass Factory in Chisinau” has about 500 employees and operates since 1970.
