Today, May 2, the leaders of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) and presidents of the national-branch trade union centres in public administration, health, construction and communications had a meeting with a group of trade unionists from Israel, who are in the period of 30 April – May 4 in the Republic of Moldova on a working visit at the invitation of the Trade Union Federation of Public Services Employees of Moldova “SINDASP”.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the achievements in the field of the protection of the rights and interests of trade union members, labour relations trends and the role of trade unions in this process, perspectives of cooperation between trade unions of the Republic of Moldova and Israel in various areas of activity.
Oleg Budza, president of CNSM, made a review of the evolution of the trade union movement in Moldova, the international and informational activity of the CNSM, the achievements regarding the negotiations with the social partners in order to improve the working conditions of the trade union members, recent dialogues with the ambassadors accredited in Chisinau, the support of the trade unions for the European vector of the Republic of Moldova.
The trade union leader mentioned that the CNSM’s priorities are to raise wages, combat the informal economy and observe the norms in the field of health and safety at work in order to diminish the alarming migration processes and increase the living standards of the population. “We are worried that we are losing skilled labour force, the aging of the population, and the trends in these spheres are accelerating in recent years. We want to intensify relations with the trade unions from Israel to make share of experience and take effective trade union practices that will help overcome these challenges and help Moldovan workers in Israel “- said Oleg Budza.
Ariel Yacobi, president of the Trade Union of Governmental Employees of Israel (IUGE + PTT), has positively appreciated the development prospects and achievements of the CNSM lately and has been open to work with the trade unions of the Republic of Moldova. “Because many Moldovan workers work in Israel, we could work together in this direction. We opt for the consolidation of trade unions and social partners and avoid confrontation in the social dialogue, which provides many guaranteed rights for trade union members, including the right to strike. The economic situation in Israel is very good. We consider it necessary to have only one minimum salary in Moldova, and workers to be paid fairly and decent for work and performance,” Ariel Yacobi said.
During the visit to Moldova, the trade unionists from Israel will meet with the leadership of Chisinau City Hall, the local public administration of Orhei city, and will get familiar with the training of trade union members and the educational methodologies applied through the CNSM Labour Institute.
