Today, on June 11, the 5th Conference of the International Union of the Trade Union Workers from Culture from the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was held at the CNSM Labour Institute, attended by representatives of the national-branch trade unions of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine and other countries. The Republic of Moldova was represented at this large forum by the Trade Union Federation of Culture Workers.
Nicolae Garaz, president of the Trade Union Federation of Culture Workers of the Republic of Moldova, informed that today’s event is a conference of reports and elections, which according to the normative norms is held every five years. At the same time, he mentioned that there is an exchange of experience on methods of strengthening the trade union movement in the CIS countries.
The main message of the participants of the 5th Conference of the International Union of the Trade Union Workers from Culture focused on activities to strengthen the efforts of all CIS trade union workers on the elaboration and adoption of a single program for all member states, creating decent work conditions for employees, observing labour law by employers, improving wage conditions for workers in the culture, trade union members. They also debated important topics such as how social dialogue works, media pluralism, working conditions and adequate remuneration of culture workers.
Oleg Budza, CNSM president, present at the event, pointed out that the problems confronting the trade unionists from our country are identical to those of their colleagues from CIS countries. So such events, as today, will contribute to solving many of these, thanks to a joint mobilization.
The representatives of the national-branch trade union centres, representing the employees in the field of culture, approved changes to the status of the Union, approved a strategy and several resolutions meant to contribute to the strengthening of the trade union potential in the CIS area, the development of the social dialogue, payroll, health and safety of employees at work.
The International Union of the Trade Union Workers from Culture from the CIS countries was created in 1992, includes trade unions from 13 countries and counts over 650 thousand members.
