At the insistence of trade unions have been increased a number of social payments for employees in the education sphere

Young teachers will receive unique benefits increased by 50 percent to job placement in the first three years of activity. Thus, as of the 1st of January 2017, graduates of higher education institutions will receive 45 thousand lei, while those of secondary specialized education – 36 000 lei.

At the meeting from the 18th of January, the Government approved several decisions on increasing social payments for employees in the sphere of education, at the insistence of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) and the Trade Union Federation of Education and Science (FSEŞ).

We remind that education trade unionists have requested to increase the unique allowance to 70 thousand lei and 50 thousand lei.

According to a press release from the Government, unique allowances for young professionals were increased for covering the costs of rental housing and energy. To this end, in the State Budget for 2017 were provided 22.8 million lei.

Another measure to support young people to work in the educational field provides that the monthly salary of teachers in general public schools during the first three years of activity will be established with the calculation base 75% of their teaching norm to the official salary. In this regard, this year will be allocated over 18.3 million lei.

Also, the Government approved a series of amendments to the Regulation on the organization of Republican contest “Teacher of the year”, which aims to stimulate the professional performance of teachers obtained during the year. Under the amendments, for the first place the prize will be 50 thousand lei, for second place – 25 thousand lei, and for the third place – 15 thousand lei.

Another resolution approved by the Government provides scholarships indexing by 5%.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Pavel Filip ordered the Ministry of Education and the State Chancellery to elaborate a plan with deadlines for liquidation of arrears on drafting regulations for the implementation of the Education Code.

Within one month will be presented for public discussion the new methodology of payment of teachers based on performance.

It should be mentioned that the Government has accepted a number of claims of trade unionists, after they announced they would picket the headquarters of the institution for 4 days. Other requirements of trade unions, aimed at increasing salaries, are to be examined in the Commission of negotiations, created on the 17th of January, the composition of which includes representatives of the government party and trade unions.
