40 young representatives of trade union organizations from Moldova, Belarus and Ukraine participate during 29 to 31 of March in the training “Trade unions and social media”, held in Chisinau.
During three days, participants will be trained on how to effectively use social media to promote trade union activities online and will share best practices.
At the opening of the activity Oleg Budza, president of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM), said that it is not enough to do the right thing unless you know how to publicize and make it widely public.

“Unfortunately, the press is no longer an operative, efficient and attractive mean of information, its place being taken by online publications that can be accessed quickly from anywhere on mobile phones, tablets, computers. Within our Confederation we tried to change the approach in the work of disseminating information, making full use of modern information technologies and can say that we see changes for the better,” said the union leader.
Jonas Devantier, consultant for international relations, the United Federation of Danish Workers (3F), shared with the audience the experience of Denmark in the field.
“Through this share of experience we aim to identify the best tools for advertising of publicizing trade unions’ activities. In the Internet era, many products, goods and services are promoted through social media, and trade unions must keep in step with time. It is our duty to defend the rights and interests of all employees, using all possible tools, including the media, “said Devantier.

Louise Thomson, journalist, public relations Department of the 3F, said that establishing the connection between its members should be a priority for all trade unions. “If we want to have effective communication, we should be where are our members – on facebook, twitter, youtube, keep them up to date with all the news regarding the activity of trade unions”, she said.
Natalia Piciujkina, editor of the webpage of Belarusian trade union of workers of radio electronic industry, said that social networks are an effective tool to cover with wide information of a large audience, winning time and resources. “It would be a big mistake not to use this tool, which greatly favors our relationship with society and solve many problems.”
“Social networks are a good platform for fast and cheap delivery of information. However, this tool can be used to mobilize in short time a large group of people to participate in various activities such as protests, rallies, flash mobs etc, ” said Vladimir Maidaniuk, Deputy Head of the Center of Danish-Ukrainian project implementation, Federation of Trade Unions of Ukraine.
We recall that a similar training was held in June 2016 in the Ukrainian city Chernigov, involving ten young trade unionists from Moldova. The project is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
