Dear trade union members, workers, public servants, brothers and sisters,

The National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) offers you sincere congratulations on the occasion of the International Workers’ Solidarity Day!

Millions of people around the world on this day reaffirm their right to decent work and life, under conditions of social justice.

On this occasion, the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova brings homage of gratitude to all trade union members for their sacrifice, devotion and effort.

Being celebrated since 1889, this day was achieved with great sacrifices, following the workers’ trade union movements. Thus, May 1 is celebrated in remembrance of workers’ protest movements that broke out in Chicago in 1886. Hundreds of thousands of Americans went out on the streets to ask for a 8-hour workday at a demonstration, without reducing their salary. The Day of May 1 embody the past, the present and the future. We appreciate the contribution of all generations who have been at the forefront of attempts and endeavours to improve working conditions for employees.

On the occasion of the International Workers’ Solidarity Day – 1 May, the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova comes with words of gratitude and deep respect for the trade union activists who contribute to the observance of the fundamental rights of the employees.

We, the trade unions, will continue to be the watchdog of the fundamental rights of the man of labour and we will contribute to raising the well-being and ensuring it with a decent living. At the same time, we will continue to advocate for the creation of decent jobs, with decent salaries, in order to ensure a high degree of social protection for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

We congratulate everyone, wishing success, well-being and continuing work together for a prosperous Moldova.

With respect,

Oleg Budza, president of CNSM
