Participants of Trade Union School of Projects conducted a series of visits to primary trade union organizations

On 11 – 22 January 2016, participants of Trade Union School of Projects conducted a series of visits to primary trade union organizations of JSC “Metal – Feros”, LLC “Ialoveni – Gaz” and JSC “Termoelectrica” ​​ in order to apply knowledge and skills obtained, but also to carry out an exchange of experiences and good practices between different branches of national economy.

Students were given the opportunity to communicate with the employees of visited enterprises, in order to become familiar with the specifics of trade union activity and working conditions. At the same time, the exercise aimed to contribute to the development of their critical thinking, to help them understand what are the steps in identifying problems and solutions for improving the situation at the level of primary trade union organization.

To achieve this aim, participants of Trade Union School Projects have applied the technique of questioning, accumulating information from union members about the effectiveness of trade union activity within the enterprises, facilities and benefits provided by the Collective Bargaining Agreement, but also about the problems facing employees and what they would change within the workplace.

“Such experiences are extremely useful, because we have the opportunity to get a firsthand information and draw conclusions on the quality of trade union activity held at a unit level” declared participants.

Trade Union School of Project is being implemented by the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (NTUCM) in frames of the Labor Institute, with the support of the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the Austrian Trade Union Federation (ÖGB) and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation (FES). The project aims to contribute to trade unions’ capacity building, civic participation by training active and conscientious trade union members, development of functional, social and professional skills of trade union personnel.
