Current pension system does not provide a decent standard of living and future system must be a fair and transparent one, so that the amount of pension to meet the real needs of the population. About this communicated on Monday, November 7, participants of a workshop organized by the Women’s Council of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM).
At the workshop, women trade unionists have discussed with the board of CNSM about the draft amendment of the pension system in Moldova and the proposals of trade unions in this regard.
According to Petru Chiriac, vice president of CNSM, the subject of pension reform is of the utmost importance for trade unions and women’s interests will be promoted by all means within the social dialogue.
“The present formula for calculating pensions aroused many disagreements and discussions in society. For us it is vital that the authorities hear the voice of employees, trade union members, in order to contribute to increasing living standards for different categories of employees,” highlighted Petru Chiriac.
Sergiu Sainciuc, vice president of CNSM, mentioned that during the meeting of the CNSM Confederal Committee, which will take place on Tuesday, November 8, will be discussed in detail the vision of trade unions on pension system reform.
“Social and economic situation is very complicated. There are several problems to be solved by joint efforts of all social partners. We had several discussions with international experts to develop a set of proposals to improve the situation of people who reach retirement age, “said Sergiu Sainciuc.
In this context, Liuba Rotaru, president of the CNSM Women’s Council, said that the issue of reforming the pension system is included in the agenda of women trade unionists and the structure they represent strive for women’s proposals to be included in future pension system so women’s interests to be defended.
Those present also discussed the results of the visit of the president of the CNSM Women’s Council at the PERC Women’s Committee Conference (Pan-European Regional Council of the International Trade Union Confederation), which was held recently in Tbilisi, Georgia, and other organizational issues.
