Representatives of CNSM held a comprehensive self-assessment exercise oriented to capacity building of the organization

In January 10-12, representatives of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) discussed at a workshop, organized with the support of CNV Internationaal, about the main directions of activity for the coming years and how to increase organizational capacity.

During the activity moderated by Jan Kuyper, CNV Internationaal consultant, trade unions have been initiated into the capacity assessment methodology, according to specific criteria analysis.

Jan Kuyper’s mission was to facilitate the process of self-development and institutional development and to evaluate how the support programs of CNV Internationaal have contributed to capacity building of CNSM. The Dutch consultant urged trade unionists to focus its efforts on innovation, flexibility, creativity and promoting new approaches to organizational activity.

Oleg Budza, president of CNSM, said that in the period 2012-2015, with the support of CNV Internationaal, the trade union movement has successfully implemented the project “Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation”, which benefited several national-branch trade union centres. According to him, this project has helped to modernize and strengthen the work of trade unions.

The union leader expressed belief that the topics discussed during the workshop will facilitate the development of the Strategy of CNSM for the next five years as it will identify main directions of activity, according to the real needs of trade union members and the socio-economic context of Moldova.

In turn, Sergiu Sainciuc, vice president of CNSM, said that this workshop is a good opportunity to analyse what are the opportunities for organizational development, impediments that hinder the objectives of CNSM and ways to overcome them through sustained, continuous effort and social dialogue.

For two days, trade union members worked in groups where they discussed the impact of CNSM activities towards decent work, improve of working conditions of employees, quality of the social dialogue and ways of activation of this process.

Trade unionists also have talked with the representative of CNV Internationaal on how CNSM capabilities can be strengthened to achieve wanted results and goals, as well as factors that might contribute to the implementation of new policies in the work of the trade union movement.
