The CNSM leadership met with the Ambassador of Lithuania to the Republic of Moldova

Today, October 31, the leadership of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) had a meeting with the Ambassador of Lithuania to the Republic of Moldova, His Excellency Kestutis Kudzmanas. CNSM continues the series of meetings with accredited ambassadors in Chisinau started earlier this year to inform embassy representatives about the work of the Confederation, the socio-economic situation, discuss the prospects of collaboration.

Oleg Budza, CNSM president, presented the achievements of the trade union movement in our country and spoke about the activity directions of the Confederation. The trade union leader has drawn attention to the need to combine the social partners’ efforts to combat the phenomenon of the informal economy and wages in the envelopes, to comply with the rules and requirements in the field of health and safety at work, to ensure decent work.

The trade union leader mentioned that the Republic of Moldova is affected by the phenomenon of migration, because young specialists leave and there are not enough cadres in various fields of activity of the national economy. The CNSM president also mentioned other issues of importance for the society, such as the improvement of the situation regarding the safety and health at work, the intensification of the social dialogue, the negotiation and conclusion of the collective labour agreements, the implementation of the European standards in the field of work.

Kestutis Kudzmanas, Lithuanian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, said that in Lithuania, trade unions have an important role to play in tripartite negotiations, and the Republic of Moldova could take on the experience of the Lithuanian social dialogue. Kestutis Kudzmanas also emphasized that Lithuania is a friend of the Republic of Moldova in the direction of European integration and has been open to intensify the cooperation relations with the trade union movement.

We would like to mention that CNSM had several meetings with ambassadors or representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Chisinau from Romania, France, Austria, Poland, and the People’s Republic of China this year.
