Today, 15 March, the leadership of the National Trade Unions Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) had a meeting with the Romanian Ambassador to the Republic of Moldova, Daniel Ioniţă.

The event served as an opportunity for Oleg Budza, president of CNSM, to inform the Romanian Ambassador that the main objective of Moldovan trade unions is to defend fundamental human rights, ensure decent living, adequate salary and normal working conditions for employees.

He pointed out that the CNSM is actively involved in the elaboration of the legal and normative framework, especially on the social-economic protection segment, on the design of the national public budget.

Also, Oleg Budza mentioned, the trade unions are making strong efforts to achieve an important objective, such as safety and health at work, directly participating with the Labour Inspectorate of the Trade Unions in activities to combat, reduce informal work and shadow economy.

Addressing the international aspect of Moldovan trade unions’ activities, Oleg Budza said that the CNSM supports the European integration model assumed by our government, because it is the safest way, corresponds to the national interest and represents the only chance from the perspective of ensuring the rights, liberties and prosperity of all citizens.

In this context, he has reported that the CNSM is a member of the Pan-European Regional Council of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC-PERC), it realizes several projects with the financial support of its colleagues from the Netherlands, Austria, Norway, Sweden. From this perspective, the support of the International Labour Organization (ILO), to which the CNSM benefits, is sustainable.

It was not bypassed by attention the close relationship with colleagues across the Prut river, especially with the National Trade Union Bloc (BNS) and Cartel Alfa National Trade Union Confederation of Romania.

Taking advantage of the occasion, Oleg Budza informed the Romanian Ambassador to Moldova that CNSM comes with the initiative to establish a collaboration with the Romanian Embassy to Moldova for 2018, which implies the involvement of trade unions in the materialization of projects and initiatives that the neighbouring country proposes to implement in the Republic of Moldova.

Romanian Ambassador to Moldova noted that today’s meeting with the leadership of CNSM is a unique opportunity to get information from direct sources about the work of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova, the role of trade unions in defending the rights and interests of employees. Daniel Ioniță stressed that trade unions are a force to be taken into account, ensuring the social balance in the country. So, the voice of the CNSM must be heard and listened.
