The Trade Union Federation “SINDICONS” marked the World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2020 – with the action “STOP COVID-19″

30.04.2020

The Trade Union Federation “SINDICONS” organized a series of actions at enterprise level with the slogan “STOP COVID 19″, taking into account the current challenges in the fight against COVID-19 and the global crisis. The action aimed to raise awareness and inform employees from enterprises in the construction sector and the construction materials industry about measures to prevent and control the risk of contagion at work. At the same time, construction workers show solidarity to all medical workers who are in the front line.

In this context, Victor Talmaci, the president of the Trade Union Federation “SINDICONS”, mentioned that “in some places is not paid so much attention to this pandemic, this is how man is created, with good and bad things. There is a lot of panic in society, at work it is not so easy to strictly follow the rules even when you are well insured, or the employer requires compliance with work obligations while complying the requirements of hygiene and safety at the workplace. That is why occupational safety specialists need to be more cautious, closer and even more demanding to people. We also follow this and explain it to employees and employers, so that together they can be as responsible as possible. Let’s get used to having the necessary equipment, disinfectants, to be cleaner and healthier at work at the moment and in the future as well”.

At the beginning of each year, the Trade Union Federation “SINDICONS” starts an extensive training program for those responsible for occupational safety and health and for members of OSH committees from the companies in the sector in order to obtain new knowledge and skills in applying the provisions of normative acts regulating workplace safety processes and raising awareness of the level of liability in case of non-compliance with normative acts regulating specific activities of safety and health at work.

Every year, on April 28, the International Labor Organization celebrates the International Day for Safety and Health at Work in order to promote worldwide the prevention of accidents and occupational diseases. It is an awareness campaign designed to focus international attention on emerging trends in occupational safety and health and the global dimension of work-related injuries, illnesses and deaths.
