The sustainable development goals and the provisions of the Strategy of the National Trade Unions Confederation of Moldova for the years 2017-2022 are the main targets of the Action Plan of the Women’s Commission of CNSM, which was debated today, January 25, during the meeting of the CNSM Women’s Commission.

Thus, during the year that has just begun, it is planned to organize many actions meant to contribute to the improvement of women’s work conditions and safety at the workplace, regarding the protection of the rights and interests of the employees, trade union members. In this context, it is worth mentioning that the members of the CNSM Women Commission are expected to meet representatives of the social partners, decision-makers from the Parliament and Government of the Republic of Moldova on the given topics.

Liuba Rotaru, president of the CNSM Women’s Commission, said that lately there has been an increase of the role of women trade unionists in the country as a result of the increase in the number of women. According to her, the share of women in some trade unions in Moldova amounts to 80 percent, but in general the country average is 60 percent of the total number of trade union members. Liuba Rotaru stressed that the ladies who became members of the trade union organizations in the country are keen not only to demonstrate their attachment to the principles of the trade union movement in the country but insist on their effective involvement in the social and economic protection of women from the Republic of Moldova .

Especially she spoke about the involvement of the Women’s Commission of the CNSM in solving the many problems that affect the living, the work of women in our country. Due to its numerous efforts, the unique child birth benefit was increased from 5300 lei to 5645 lei. In this order, it should also be said that the discrimination allowed against women working in the budgetary sector when calculating the maternity allowance and caring for children up to the age of 3 years has been abolished.

However, the president of the CNSM Women’s Commission considers that it is not yet time for the CNSM Women’s Trade Union Organization to be content with the achievements and focus on solving the problems affecting the standard of living, the working conditions of the employees, trade union members. An impetus to this end, noted the president of the Women’s Commission of the CNSM, would be the joint effort to carry out the activities contained in the Action Plan for 2018, which was discussed today at the CNSM Women’s Commission meeting.
