The Women’s Commission of the CNSM participated in training in Romania

During the period June 9-17, the members of the Women’s Commission of the CNSM had a seminar organized by the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) at Slanic-Moldova, Romania, in order to inform about the CNSM achievements regarding social and economic protection of employees and promotion of gender equality through the objectives of Sustainable Development Goals.

Liuba Rotaru, president of the Women’s Commission of the CNSM, informed the participants about the work plan of the Women’s Committee of the Pan-European Regional Council (PERC) for the year 2018, with reference to the organization of information and public awareness campaigns related to social protection, promotion of the International Labour Organization conventions, organizing training activities. At the same time, trade unions exchanged experience on promoting and defending women’s rights and interests at branch level, the objectives of the PERC Women Committee on Gender Equality, and ensuring gender mainstreaming in trade union programs and projects.

Another important topic of the seminar was the role and importance of Sustainable Development Goals, with a strong focus on Objective 5 – Promoting Gender Equality and Objective 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, presented by Angela Otean, vice-president of the Women Commission of the CNSM.

During the seminar the trade unionists also became acquainted with some modifications to the Law on state social allowances for certain categories of citizens, the Concept on filling in the personal social security accounts with the information regarding the work activity performed until 01.01.1999, the Regulation on scanning information from workbooks for the period until 01.01.1999.

During the round table, organized together with colleagues from Targu-Ocna City Hall, the participants had the opportunity to exchange views on trade union activity, to promote social dialogue at local level, to get acquainted with the history of Tirgu-Ocna. The participants also visited the National School for Prisoners Officers from Tirgu-Ocna, a vocational training institution within the Ministry of Justice of Romania.
