We specify that SDG No. 8 “Decent work and growth” means promoting sustained, open and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and ensuring decent jobs for all.

The Sustainable Development Goals were formulated at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, held in Rio de Janeiro in 2012. The aim was to develop a set of universal targets that address the most persistent environmental, political and economic challenges facing the world.

In September 2015, the Republic of Moldova, together with 192 other UN Member States, committed themselves to implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development by adopting the Declaration of the Sustainable Development Summit, which took place in New York. The 2030 Agenda aims to achieve what was initiated under the Millennium Development Goals, with the main goal of eradicating poverty by 2030 and ensuring sustainable development worldwide.
