Trade Union Federation of Transport and Road Workers of Moldova expresses its disagreement with the substitution of the fee for using the roads by motor vehicle tax, proposed for collection in local budgets.
According to Boris Rojnevschi, President of the Federation, this measure, referred in the draft law on amending and supplementing certain acts (fiscal, customs and budgetary policy for 2016), will encourage local authorities to use the collected money from taxes for other needs, than the repair and maintenance of road networks. Secondly, accumulations will be based in Chisinau and Balti, where most transport units are registered.
“There is a risk that part of the sources from the road fund to be managed unprofessional and motorists, as owners of real estate, will have their right to demand good roads and adequate infrastructure, as road tax increase, violated”, said the trade union leader.
Meanwhile, branch trade unionists request the Government to review its policy on the importation of vehicles, which favors the increase of the number of units registered outside the country (Bulgaria, the Baltic States, Ireland, Romania, etc.), also the imperfect legal framework, allowing the illegal activity of passenger transportation in the country and abroad.
Trade Union Federation of Transport and Road Workers of Moldova also insists on the regulation of the activities of stations and substations, to exclude cases of travel without tickets.
