Today, February 15, as part of a training activity, trade unionists, members of the Women’s Commission of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) announced that they are joining the campaign recently launched by the Pan-European Regional Council (PERC) of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) “Stop gender-based violence in the world of work – support an ILO Convention”.
Thus, trade unionists from Moldova support the efforts of the ITUC and the International Labor Organization (ILO), which will organize information and awareness international activities among decision-makers between February 14 and March 8, for 23 days, to improve the situation in this context.
According to international statistics, 35 percent or more than 818 million women worldwide, aged over 15, have been subjected to domestic violence in public places or in the workplace.
Liuba Rotaru, president of the Women’s Commission within the CNSM, said that trade unionists organized activities to combat violence at work. “In the near future, we are proposing to organize a round table with the participation of the social partners to identify solutions to these problems. At the same time, we will organize awareness-raising activities in the territory,” Liuba Rotaru said.
The PERC Women Committee has previously announced that it will organize more solidarity actions with the victims of workplace violence to combat this scourge and promote effective bargaining practices designed to ensure social justice and decent work.
We should also mention that the trade unionists discussed the features of the State Social Security Budget for 2018 and some changes in the social security legislation.
