National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova is deeply alarmed by the 6.7% decrease in the purchasing power of wages of the population. Although, according to official statistics, in November 2015 the average monthly wage increased by 5.9% compared to November 2014, this increase exceeded the consumer price index, so the real earning index was 93.3%.

Trade unionists concern is also fed by the fact that, according to the updated forecast of macroeconomic indicators for the years 2015-2018, for 2016 it is expected an average monthly wage of 5,050 lei, an increase of 109.8% compared to 2015, an evolution which will not cover even the rising inflation, this amount will reach 111.4%, again causing a reduction in real wage by 1.5%.

In this context, trade unions ask insistently the Government wage indexation and to set a new minimum wage to the subsistence level, to prevent further impoverishment of the population.
