Today, March 14, the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) launched an awareness and solidarity campaign to say “STOP THE WAR” and send messages of support to Ukrainian refugees on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. The campaign runs from 14 -15 March and is part of a series of actions organized by the trade union movement in the Republic of Moldova, which is deeply concerned about the war situation in Ukraine.

“CNSM pleads for peace and for finding a diplomatic solution to the conflict that has plagued the two countries. We advocate for peace between peoples, between European citizens, of whatever nationality. Armed conflict cannot lead to anything good in Europe, which is our home, for all those who want freedom, democracy and prosperity. We are with the Ukrainian people, our brethren trade unionists in Ukraine, whom we support morally,” the CNSM Declaration on the Situation in Ukraine states.

During the campaign, on the media resources of the trade unions (CNSM website, social networks Facebook, Twitter, Telegram) will be promoted several messages and publications with the following key messages: “Solidarity with Ukraine”, “Russia leaves Ukraine”, “Stop the war!”, “Refugees are welcome”.

In view of the situation in Ukraine, on 15 March this year, the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) will organize a Global Action “Solidarity with Ukraine” in Brussels, Belgium.  CNSM supports the global action organized by ITUC and ETUC.

In the context of the war in Ukraine, the ITUC calls for:

  • World leaders take urgent and definitive action to initiate dialogue and find a peaceful solution to this crisis, in line with the Charter of the United Nations;
  • Sanctions focusing in particular on the oligarchs and the entourage of President Putin;
  • Governments to provide safe shelter for all refugees fleeing the conflict – Ukrainians and foreign workers and students; protection of civilians and safe humanitarian access.
