Trade unions offer accommodation for Ukrainian refugees

Today, February 25, in connection with the situation in Ukraine, the Confederal Committee of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) adopted a decision on the support of Ukrainian citizen’s refugees due to the war in Ukraine.

According to that decision, accommodation is provided to Ukrainian refugees in the three sanatoriums subordinated to the CNSM – sanatorium “Nufărul Alb” from city Cahul, health resort “Bucuria-Sind” from the city Vadul-lui-Vodă, health resort “Codru” from village Hîrjăuca, Călărași district.

The administrators of the mentioned entities shall be empowered to make available to the territorial social assistance structures one hundred accommodation places, free of charge, for the temporary placement of refugees from Ukraine.

According to point 19 of the Order of the Commission for Exceptional Situations of the Republic of Moldova, No. 1 of 24.02.2022, the local public authorities, public institutions, state-owned companies and trade unions will provide social assistance facilities with accommodation targets for the establishment of temporary placement centers for refugees.

We note that CNSM has also published today the Declaration on the situation in Ukraine which shows that the trade unions in the Republic of Moldova are deeply concerned about the situation in Ukraine. The Confederation has expressed its support for the Ukrainian people and trade unionists.
