Over a hundred young trade unionists, members of the Youth Commission of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) met on Thursday, October 20, Prime Minister Pavel Filip. Young people were interested in the policies pursued by the state in support to create new jobs, improve the payment system and to ensure young people with affordable housing.
Oleg Budza, president of CNSM said that young people are vulnerable and poorly protected on labour market. “We must strive to support them and keep them at home because the lack of jobs leads them to migrate abroad. It is necessary to review policies at the state level in this direction to create new jobs, to give young people decent wage and enable them to benefit from loans under preferential conditions, to procure housing,” Budza emphasized.
According to Tatiana Marian, president of Youth Commission, currently 4 of 10 young people are looking for a job. “These statistics highlight the need for more attention from the authorities. We want young people to benefit from opportunities as to be motivated, and their role in society more pronounced, not only at the central government level, but also at local one. One of the actions that we can achieve in the short term, within social dialogue, is to sign the Convention for national socio-economic development of the youth. This document will give us the necessary cooperation for the protection of young people,” said Marian.
Also, president of Youth Commission proposed to establish a common agenda that includes improving wage for young people, applying various new forms of remuneration widely used in the European area, such as systems of benefits, facilities for initiating business, facilities for young families, training and retraining.
In turn, Pavel Filip stressed the important role of youth in the country’s development and sustainable growth of society. “Youth shape the future of the state and bring added value to our country. Ensuring economic stability and creating an attractive environment for investors will allow us to solve complex problems that exist and will give us new opportunities to support initiatives and promote the interests of young people from Moldova”, said the Premier.
Finally, the members of the Youth Commission of CNSM, concluded that some well-coordinated and consolidated actions will boost development in the youth segment of society, urging the authorities to allow the participation of youth in the governing and ensure continuity of dialogue.
