Declaration of the Confederal Committee of NTUCM

28.12.2015

cnsm

On December 23, 2015, the members of the Confederal Committee of NTUCM, representing 400 thousand trade union members, convened in a regular session, discussed on the appointment by the President of the State Nicolae Timofti of Mr. Ion Sturza, candidate for the position of Prime Minister.

This has caused the concern of trade union sectoral presidents, knowing the position that Mr. Ion Sturza had towards the trade unions during the period when he held the position of Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova.

In that short period of government, the Government, as a main social partner of the Trade Unions and of the Patronates at the national level, avoided coming for collective negotiations and from examining the claims submitted by the employees’ representatives. The representatives of the employees have not been heard; Mr. Ion Sturza called the tade unions to be an impediment to progress.

The lack of interest in the social dialogue which showed Sturza Government, nake it not to be respected, the dialogue regulated by the European Union Treaties and Conventions of the International Labor Organisation.

It must be noted the fact that the social dialogue is one of the principles of democratic governance of the member countries of the European Union, a value promoted in the implementation of the Association Agreement between EU – Republic of Moldova, signed by the government and ratified by the Parliament and by all 28-member countries of the European Union.

In view of the above, NTUCM considers inappropriate to have a meeting with the candidate for the position of Prime Minister and will not participate in the discussions on the governance program.

Adopted at the Confederal Committee meeting as of December 23, 2015.
