Message of the president of CNSM, Oleg Budza, on the Day of the trade unionist
Dear trade union members, brothers and sisters,
I have the honor to address to you on the Day of the trade unionist, celebrated on the 7th of June by the whole trade union family, most sincere congratulations.
Today, our eyes are turning, above all, towards the past trade union movement, to those generations of trade unionists who formed the first organizations and professional unions in Moldova in order to protect employees’ rights to decent work and rest. We highly appreciate the work of those who have made an enormous work with much devotion and diligence for the good and interest of the working class.
Passed through various stages of development over the years, trade union leaders facing pressure, both domestic and foreign, trade unions restructured, becoming a reinforced and independent pillar of the civil society, gaining gratitude of the employees and becoming a recognized institution at European and international level. Trade unions today contribute with dignity to defending the professional, economic and social rights of employees. These achievements were possible thanks to the work done by the leaders of primary organizations, presidents of national-branch trade union centers, territorial inter-branch councils, employees of branch trade unions, women and youth structures of CNSM, trade union activists at all levels, collectives of institutions and enterprises subordinate to CNSM. All these representatives assiduously promote principles of trade unionism, respect for fundamental human rights, enjoying the appreciation, esteem and consideration of others.
The professional holiday inspires and compels us to be more vigilant and show solidarity and militancy in the struggle for workers’ right for decent work and life, in conditions of tightening global pressures on the working class and the violation of the fundamental interests of working people.
On the occasion of the professional holiday, I call on veteran trade unionists, pensioners, all citizens who have worked in the past in trade unions and brought their enormous contribution to strengthening of the trade union movement in Moldova.
On behalf of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova, let me express my sincere congratulations to all, wishing good health to you and your families, success in the work you are doing for the good of the people.
