Syndicalist women of rural area handed deputies the Appeal addressed to Moldovan Government and Parliament

About 50 women of the Women Organizations within the National Federation of Agriculture and Nutrition Trade Unions „Agroindsind” of more than 20 districts of the country handed Friday, October 18, 2013, to the Parliament, the Appeal and claims submitted by women of rural area.  

The syndicalists claim within the Appeal for the establishment of the lump sum allowance for child’s birth in the amount of 5000 lei; non-admission of the increase of insurance medicine contributions with 1%; the increase of the minimum pension rate till the minimum living wage; ensuring the access of countryside women, especially of the pregnant and elderly ones, to qualified medical services etc.

“The facts demonstrate that the majority of rural population is below the poverty line, the agricultures’ salaries and pensions are very low and humiliating. The medical care, especially of elderly people, pregnant women and children is expensive, unqualified and very distant, it is obviously violated the woman’s dignity and honour”, Daria Bostan, President of Women Council of ”Agroindsind” Federation stated.

The syndicalists emphasised the problems faced by women of Moldova’s districts, among which the lack of jobs and proper life conditions, the informal work, the depreciation of countryside woman, the growth of violence risk towards women, the limited access to qualified medical assistance.

The parliamentarians were receptive to syndicalist women and some of them promised to analyse their requests, the problems faced in the rural area, trying to settle them.

Being worried of the fact that the multiple appeals to the Government, Parliament and other habilitated state bodies remain unsettled, the Women Organizations within the „Agroindsind” Federation confirmed their requests by 10 thousand signatures.

So, the syndicalists require the settlement of their claims till the 20^th of November, otherwise they will resort to protest actions.

We mention that, earlier, on the eve of the World Day of Rural Women, celebrated on October 15, the Women Organizations within the „Agroindsind” Federation organized a series of meetings in more than 20 districts of the country, within which there were discussed the problems of rural area women.   

The meetings were conducted both in Chișinău, as well as, in Edineț, Sângerei, Drochia, Soroca, Rezina, Glodeni, Orhei, Chișinău, Ungheni, Căușeni, Ștefan Vodă, Anenii-Noi, Cimișlia, Taraclia, Comrat, Ceadîr-Lunga, Cantemir, Râșcani and other districts, being also invited representatives of the District Councils, Territorial Labour Inspection, Police Commissariats, Social Assistance, Workforce Office.
