Leaders of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (NTUCM) had today, 4th of February, a meeting with Octavian Calmîc, Deputy prime minister, Minister of Economy. The parties discussed several issues of socio-economic importance, stressing the need for an efficient cooperation within the social partnership in order to achieve positive results for citizens.

Thus, trade unionists requested that draft laws on the state budget, social insurance budget, mandatory health insurance funds and tax, customs and budgetary policy to be discussed within the National Commission for Consultations and Collective Bargaining before being debated in the Government.

However, NTUCM leaders insisted on undertaking more effective measures to reduce the informal economy, reduced VAT rates on goods and services of social importance and implementation of a mechanism to regulate prices and tariffs, giving priority to domestic producers to conduct public procurement and involvement with the right to vote of the representatives of trade unions in the work of the working Group for regulating entrepreneurial activity.

Trade unions opt for creating a favorable business environment to attract foreign investments in creating new working places, increasing employment and reducing migration flows abroad, to promote more effective support measures and development of industrial sectors, including manufacturing, but also to promote social dialogue at national and sectoral level.

Regarding increasing inflation and reduced purchasing power of the population, NTUCM asked the Executive to urgently identify resources to increase salaries in the public sector.

Octavian Calmîc stressed that one of the priorities of the first 100 days of the Government will be measures to encourage business and support large investment projects.

Deputy prime minister stressed the availability of creating a permanent platform for communication with the trade unionists, both through the National Commission for Consultations and Collective Bargaining and bilateral level to find solutions and the necessary balance to all the problems in areas of common interest.
