The General Council of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (GCNTUCM) calls the country’s government to find solutions for overcoming the serious political, economic and social crisis persisting in recent times in the Republic of Moldova.
Gathered in a meeting on Friday, December 18, the Moldovan trade union members appealed to all political forces, organs of state control and justice to take responsibility and to act urgently in order to mobilize their joint efforts for investing a Government, capable to provide the pro-European development of the country, to defend national interests with the purpose of ensuring a decent living standard for the citizens of Moldova.
At the same time, the members of the General Council of NTUCM require the depoliticisation of state institutions, implementation of reforms in the social, economic field and to resume the constructive relations with the partners for development, and also holding accountable all persons directly or indirectly involved in frauds committed in the banking system, in corruption deeds and other wrongdoing, regardless of the position they hold.
The trade unionists note that the chronic political instability from the recent years has led to every day worsening of the social-economic situation in the country. The negotiations to form a new government have stalled. No real efforts are being made to find a common denominator, a solution in the name of political stability. The pro-European vector of the Republic of Moldova has been compromised.
„NTUCM tried repeatedly to influence the current government through dialogue at various levels, statements, appeals, claims in order to find solutions to the extremely serious problems which are facing the economy and the citizens of the country, especially the workers with low incomes and pensioners. But the governors have proven to not be able to mobilize for facing the biggest challenges to date – ensuring economic security of the Republic of Moldova”, is shown in the Declaration of the General Council of NTUCM, adopted yesterday.
„In these circumstances, the country needs, perhaps more than ever, political stability, because the real issues, the economic and social ones that affect the living standards of citizens, can be addressed with priority by the decision makers of the state”, it is also mentioned in the document.
The trade unionists declare firmly that they will hold protest actions of employees throughout the country, where the political forces will not ensure social and economic stability in the country, will not implement measures to overcome the current crisis and the raising of living standards.
During the meeting of the General Council of NTUCM, the members have done an evaluation of actions of the Confederation in order to achieve the statutory goals within the social partnership at the national level and have adopted amendments to the nominal composition of the General Council.
In addition, the trade unionists have elected as Vice President of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova Mr. Sergiu Sainciuc who worked for more than 10 years as Deputy Minister of Labor, Social Protection and Family. During his activity, Sainciuc developed and actively promoted policies in labor legislation field, employment, labor migration, human resources, payroll, demography and social dialogue.
