Over 100 of physicians and medical assistants, trade union members, protested on Monday, March 4, in front of the District Council of Vulcăneşti. The protestants asked for the payment of salary debts for the last three months of 2012 and for the January 2013. Also, they require the authorities to maintain the status of the district hospital but not community.
Medical workers declare that they cannot work anymore in such conditions. After a great number of claims and letters addressed to the Ministry of Health, Government and Parliament, they decided to go out on the street and protest. Physicians and medical assistants affirm that they have no means to maintain their families and to pay the communal services, they are left without money.
Ana Colotenko, the president of trade union committee of Vulcăneşti District Hospital says that „the total sum of debts increased up to 4 million, 1,6 of them – salary debts. The problems appeared along with the administrative-territorial reorganization. Also, the expenses for the maintenance of the institution are much bigger, in comparison to the budget contracted by the National Health Insurance Company”.
Igor Zubcu, councilor of Trade Union “Sănătate” considers that was not respected the basic principle on the payment of salary before all the other payments. “We are revolted on the fact that still persists such a phenomena of labor – non-payment of salary. The employees are obliged to respect their work, and the employer should provide them the conditions and pay the salary for the performed work. We will not tolerate such a behavior at any hospital of the country, we have to unite to stop this phenomena at the early stage”, mentioned Zubcu.
The representative of Trade Union “Sănătate” considers that the respective problem appeared because of the lack of the efficient social dialog between the administration of hospital and district authorities.
Although they protested for more than an hour in front of the Mayor’s Office of Vulcăneşti, nobody went out to discuss with people.
The physicians will continue to protest tomorrow, and in case if they will not be heard, they will sue the administration of hospital.
