The leadership of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) had on Wednesday, May 18, a meeting with Dumitru Fornea, a member of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and co-chairman of the Platform of the Civil Society (PSC) EU – Moldova. During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on several issues related to Moldova’s European course, the role of the civil society and social dialogue in this process.
Oleg Budza, president of CNSM thanked the guest for supporting Moldova in the PSC EU – Moldova, especially in the first meeting of the Platform, which was held last week in Brussels. “We want change and we want to go the European way, to align to the European legislation and standards, but it is a difficult process and we need good advice and experience in this regard,” said Budza.
In this context, Dumitru Fornea said that one of the measures, which will further bring the successful completion of this process, is strengthening the culture of social and civil dialogue in the society, by raising public awareness. “Trade unions and its social partners have a great role here. Therefore, we wanted to have a separate section on the topic of social dialogue at the meeting in Brussels “, he stressed.
The parties have agreed to initiate collaborative relationships to achieve common action to promote programs to increase the capacity of the social partners and strengthen institutional mechanisms of social dialogue.
“If there is a project-based approach, the story with the Association Agreement, the platform of the civil society and internal consultation group will remain only on paper. It is necessary to join forces in this regard, to request financial assistance from the EU and the experience of the social partners from other Member States, to intensify the training of the social partners in social dialogue and collective bargaining “, said Fornea.
