Syndicalist’s Day celebrated in Republic of Moldova

On the eve of celebrating the Syndicalist’s Day, activists and trade union members of Republic of Moldova met Friday, June 6, 2014, within the Meeting of the Trade Union Active of the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova (NCTUM) to discuss the social-economic situation of the country and mark the activity objectives for the next period.

Within the Meeting participated the board of NCTUM, presidents of the branch trade unions of the country, Prime-Minister of Republic of Moldova Iurie Leancă, representatives of the Moldovan Government, as well as, social partners.

President of NCTUM Oleg Budza mentioned that the 7th of June is not only a professional holiday for trade unions, but also a mobilisation day of the solidarity efforts, of re-establishing the trade union actions of all levels, in order to realize the social equity and the labour virtue.

“In the institutions with trade union structures the salaries are not paid “in envelope” and the employees’ rights are respected. During one year, we increased the rate of the assured minimum wage in the real sector, starting with May 1, 2014, from 1400 to 1650 lei. On require of trade unions, it was increased the tariff salary for the 1st remuneration category staff of the budget area, from 800 to 900 lei”, the trade union leader specified.

President of the National Confederation of Patronages of Moldova Leonid Cerescu stated that in spite the fact there exist some divergences between the trade unions and patronages, it is made all possible to settle the social-economic problems through negotiations and mutual collaborations.

In his turn, Moldovan Prime-Minister Iurie Leancă congratulated the syndicalists with this occasion and specified that the Government together with the NCTUM have a common objective – the modernization and improvement of our country’s  life conditions.

“We have a direct, open dialogue with trade unions, directed to a concrete result. We go on the same way in order to reach the European standards in our country through raise in salaries, pensions, in order to offer a better life to our citizens”, the Premier said.

The Syndicalist’s Day is celebrated the seventh year consequently, when after June 7, 2007, the two national-inter-branch trade union centres adopted the historic decision of replenishment of the trade union movement of the country, by their merger and creation of a single centre – the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova (NCTUM).

The NCTUM is a national-inter-branch trade union centre of confederative type, which includes, on basis of voluntary principles, national-branch trade union centres, being independent in their relation with  the public authorities, parties and other social-political organisations, patronages’ associations and public organisations, is not subject to their control and are not subordinated to them. The NCTUM is the single trade union inter-branch centre, which includes over 430 thousand members.

Within the NCTUM activate 27 national-branch trade union centres. Within the Confederation activates the Women Council and the Youth Council. The NCTUM doesn’t depend on public authorities, parties and other social-political organisations, the patronages’ associations and the public organisations. The NCTUM is member with full rights of the International Confederation of Trade Unions with its office premises in Bruxelles and is affiliated to the General Trade Unions Confederation with its business office in Moscow.
