Representatives of Building and Wood Worker’s International (BWI) Federation express their concern related to the infringement of the rights of ”Monolit-Construct” trade union members and request the Government to take measures in this respect.
So, representatives of BWI, a trade union organization located in Geneva, Switzerland, sent recently a letter of Moldova’s Prime-Minister Iurie Leancă. Thus they claim the official for taking measures against the practice of infringing the rights of trade union members, as well as, of observing Conventions 87 and 98 of the International Labour Organization, concerning the association freedom.
„I was shocked to hear about the violation of the right to association of employees in Republic of Moldova”, is mentioned in the letter sent by the General Secretary of BWI Ambet Yuson.
The letter was received after the Federation of Trade Unions of Constructions and Industry of Construction Materials „SINDICONS”, member of NCTUM, notified the international structures about the serious infringement of ”Monolit-Construct” employees’ rights.
At the end of 2013, „SINDICONS” Federation organised a series of actions with the participation of trade union members from „Monolit Construct” company, in order to draw the attention of public opinion and state authorities to the non-observance by the employer of the employee’s right to create the trade union and obtain the statute of member of this organisation.
The problem appeared after the board of the company asked the employees to write a request of leaving the company. Under pressure, the trade union members had to execute this request, being afraid not to lose their job, fact which would leave their families without a source of income. Many of them are women.
The letter of support of the requests of Federation of Trade Unions of Constructions and Industry of Construction Materials „SINDICONS” and the employees of ”Monolit-Construct” enterprise was signed by 92 worldwide trade unions organisations.
We remind that at the beginning of December 2013, many employees of this enterprise, together with the trade union leader, submitted a claim to „SINDICONS” Federation, requesting its representatives to contribute to the cessation of pressures on the part of the head of „Monolit Construct” SRL.
Representatives of „SINDICONS” Federation asked the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family, as well as, the Parliamentary Commission for Social Protection, Health and Family, to interfere in ensuring the observation of trade union members and to bring to account the head of “Monolit Construct”. “The present request was not satisfied yet”, President of ”SINDICONS” Federation Victor Talmaci stated.
”SINDICONS” Federation is member of the National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova and includes 114 primary trade union organisations. At the same time, it is a full-right member of the Building and Wood Worker’s International (BWI), the International Confederation of Constructions and Construction Materials of CIS countries MKP „Stroiteli” and of the International Federation of Trade Unions of Chemistry, Energy, Mines and Different Industries Workers, to which are affiliated miners and workers of glass processing industry of Republic of Moldova.
