The Confederal Committee of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) expresses outrage over the limited term provided to examine the draft law on pension reform, which State Chancellery presented for public consultation.
According to Oleg Budza, president of CNSM, “only two days to discuss a draft of a reform of this scale are insufficient, compromising the principles of fair and constructive social partnership. Public consultations should take place in a wider circle of citizens and in reasonable terms.”
The astonishment of trade unionists is based also on the fact that some of their proposals, presented before, were not taken into consideration. CNSM proposals on certain aspects of pension reform in Moldova you can access HERE.
Among the proposed that were not supported by CNSM are: increasing the retirement age for men and women and increase the contribution period, indexation of pensions only based on consumer price index and only when it will exceed 2%, the fact of not establishing a basic pension and cancellation of financial support for beneficiaries.
“The concept developed in the working group, responsible for pension reform, was much better than the draft law proposed for discussion and is unfortunate that there was disregard of several proposals of social partners”, said Sergiu Sainciuc, vice-president of CNSM.
After reviewing the draft law submitted by the State Chancellery, trade unions have filed a series of objections and proposals to improve legislation in this area, which you can see HERE, calling for these to be discussed at tomorrow’s meeting, December 2, of the National Commission for Consultations and Collective Bargaining.
If the position of CNSM will not be considered by any discussion platform for social dialogue, trade unionists assume the right to organize protests.
