Trade Unions are concerned with the large amount of salary arrears in the national economy branches

The National Confederation of Trade Unions of Moldova  (NCTUM) is concerned with the fact that there were registered more cases of salary arrears payment in the national economy branches, the total amount constituting over 108 million lei in 2013.

Petru Chiriac, Vice President of NCTUM, declared on Tuesday, February 18 of this year, at the Confederal Committee meeting that the biggest social arrears are in the domain of social service and production of goods – 12 million lei , forestry – 8 million lei, machine and equipment building industry and vocational education – 4,3 million lei, construction – 4 million lei, health care – 500 thousand lei.

“It is an alarming situation, that is why we will refer the matter to be considered at the next meeting of the National Committee and collective bargaining, inviting officials of the economic entities with the salary arrears,” specified Chiriac.

According to the data of National Bureau of Statistics, the highest percentage of salary arrears is observed in agriculture, manufacturing and construction. The lowest percentage – registered in financial activities, followed by hotels, restaurants, and public administration.
