Thursday, June 23, the leaders of the National Trade Union Confederation of Moldova (CNSM) had a meeting with Radu Plămădeală, legal counsel for migrants in Romanian language of the Trade Union of Austria (OGB) to discuss prospects for cooperation in the migration field.

Oleg Budza, president of CNSM, stressed that for the trade unions from Moldova are essential not only migration policies in other countries, but also national policies that would help reduce migration so that Moldovan citizens would stay home and enjoy good working conditions and decent wages.

“For several years we cooperate actively with OGB and we highly appreciate their support in the implementation of training activities. We analyze how we can join efforts because it is important what happens to our citizens who work abroad and the way they are protected,” said the trade union leader.

Radu Plămădeală, representative of OGB, made a detailed presentation of the work of OGB and talked about the peculiarities of the Austrian labor market practices in respect of the conclusion of individual employment contracts and assistance for migrants.

OGB representative also informed about projects implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Labour of Austria, focused on supporting migrants from various countries, including the Romanian speakers.

Trade unionists have expressed interest in learning more about the social security system in Austria, the criteria for granting and setting salaries, allowances and pensions.

We would like to mention that OGB and CNSM have intensive collaboration, the partnership is evidenced by several editions of the project Trade Union School in Moldova.
